Senoritas Fiesta Box is amazing. Every taco was so fresh and tasty. Empanada and tostadas are also tasty, especially with all the sauces. Rice and beans are delicious. Complimentary salsa and chips were fresh and on point. The price point for portion size is good. First-time customer via delivery, very impressed.

Tucked into a Bowden Road plaza just off I-95 in Jacksonville's Southside, Señoritas Mexican Kitchen has built a reputation as a hidden-gem family restaurant where authentic regional Mexican cooking meets a relaxed, neighborhood vibe. The space is warm and color-forward — think bright walls, hand-painted accents, and a from-scratch kitchen run by a Latina-owned, woman-led team that treats first-timers like regulars.
Order the Señoritas Fiesta Box for a tour of the menu, the Al Pastor tacos for the citrus-marinated pork, and the Dinamite Shrimp Tacos for a sweet-and-spicy crunch. The whole-fried Tilapia Frita is a sleeper hit — large enough for two meals — and the empanadas, tostadas, and California Burrito round out the must-tries. Don't skip the chips and queso or the complimentary salsa, both made fresh in-house daily.
For another take on Jacksonville Mexican cooking a few miles east in Tinseltown, Cantina Louie (Southside) leans into street-food staples like sopes, tortas, and Grave Digger Nachos alongside a full cocktail bar.
A few minutes north near the St. Johns Town Center and Tinseltown corridor, Cielo Azul Mexican Kitchen and Seafood takes a seafood-forward approach to the same authentic Mexican tradition, with shrimp tacos, ceviche, and grilled whole fish anchoring the menu.
Across town on the Northside, La Catrina Tacos & Tequila Bar in Yellow Bluff covers similar ground with a tacos-and-fajitas menu paired with a deep tequila and mezcal list.
A few miles south in Lakewood off University Boulevard, Mr. Gordo's Tacos and Cantina works a similar tacos, enchiladas, burritos, and fajitas lineup with a full cantina menu.
Closer to the ocean off Beach Boulevard, La Costa Mexican Cantina is a family-owned spot known for street tacos, the Molcajete, Carne Asada Fries, and a generous mojito and margarita list.
Heading east toward the Intracoastal, La Takeria works a similar authentic-taco angle with birria, pastor, arrachera, and campechano varieties alongside Peruvian ceviche and trio fajitas.
Over in Riverside on Park Street, Don Eduardo Cocina Mexicana covers similar regional ground with a Volcano Molcajete loaded with steak, chicken, and shrimp alongside birria tacos and tacos al pastor.
Beach-side diners chasing a more upscale Oaxacan angle can head to Oaxaca Club in Jacksonville Beach, where Snapper Veracruz, Cochinita Pibil pork shank, and barbacoa with mole share the menu with a mezcal-forward bar.
Reservations aren't typically required for parties under six, and walk-ins move quickly. There is free shared parking in the Bowden Road plaza directly out front. Dine-in and takeout are both popular, with delivery available through DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Seamless, and tray catering through ezCater. What people are saying
This food was delicious! The Tilapia Frita is huuuuugggee — plenty of meat. I ate one half for dinner and the other for lunch the next day. The Dinamite Shrimp Tacos were flavorful with a great blend of heat and sweetness.
A hidden gem on Bowden Road right off I-95. Generous portions, tacos bursting with flavor, and classic dishes reimagined. Gourmet-level meals at a fraction of what you'd pay at an upscale spot, and the staff is friendly and attentive.
