15th
Street Fisheries
The place
On the Intracoastal Waterway south of downtown, 15th Street Fisheries has been feeding Fort Lauderdale's boating community since 1981. The outdoor dock bar and the restaurant perched above the water are the kind of spots you discover once and immediately plan to return to.
The emphasis is on simplicity executed well: grilled snapper from local boats, stone crab claws stacked on ice, and a grouper sandwich that's become something of a local legend. The dock bar downstairs operates cash-only and suits casual visitors best; the upstairs dining room handles special occasions with a full seafood menu and wine list.
The sunsets from both levels are extraordinary — marina traffic, pelicans, and all.
