Casa
D'Angelo Ristorante
The place
For more than two decades, Casa D'Angelo has held its position as the restaurant South Florida's serious food community points to when proving Fort Lauderdale can stand alongside Miami. Chef Angelo Elia's Northern Italian cooking — handmade pasta, wood-grilled fish, Venetian cicchetti — is the kind that makes you remember specific dishes years later.
The room is elegant without being stiff: warm wood paneling, white tablecloths, and a noise level that lets you have a conversation. The pasta is made in-house daily; the pappardelle with wild boar ragù is the house standard that other dishes are measured against.
The wine list runs deep in Italian varieties you won't find elsewhere in South Florida — ask the sommelier for direction. Service is polished in the way that makes a special occasion feel properly marked.
